Technology

BBC News has an interesting article about present and future mobile SmartPhone. Meanwhile, Nokia has a new N97 in awaiting, to be launch in early 2009 (shown first in Nokia World 2008). Check out this blog or watch the movie below.

Impress with their Robot Watch site has an interesting article 「超初心者にも“できる”ホビーロボット入門ガイド」. Sorry, it is in Japanese.

Here I list VoIP applications that can connect with multiple services:

  1. Fring
  2. Truphone

As a programmer, you will think that your job is about technical. That is true especially if you look from the perspective of programming methodology. But, as a method of communication, we can also regard source code as a poem! :)

Skype’s text messaging has been compromised in China. Although apparently the problem is limited within China, this incident showed us that you cannot trust anyone even to those who already made public promised.

Have you ever saw a Microsoft ad featuring Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld? Then you should read about FTP 168 things

NYTimes have an article which discussed about professional network on social networking sites.

And remember the other social-networking sites. If LinkedIn is the Chamber of Commerce luncheon, then Facebook is the after-hours party (and MySpace is the all-night rave, which may make trolling for business connections there a bit trying). “Facebook seems a more natural way of communicating,” said Debra Aho Williamson, senior analyst for eMarketer in Seattle. “LinkedIn seems more formal.”
But the social ease of Facebook makes it easy to look frivolous, all of the experts warned. If you tend to overshare, people in your network will quickly learn about the breakup of your marriage or your love of Jell-O shots. (Facebook now offers fine-tuned privacy settings, on the upper right side of the home page.) So perhaps the best tip of all for online social networking would be: Keep the social separate from the networking.

Here is a video report

Andreas M. Antonopoulos from Network World wrote What we don’t seem to have much is communal defense. It is very rare to find a system that is equally concerned with outgoing traffic and the impact it has on others. Actually, research trend in security is going to that direction.

In the past, we cannot do that because resource limitation on network devices. Thus, almost no one think about to empower the devices. But now, with CPU more speedier, memory more spacious, HDD more spacious, we can afford to have that capability. One small effort on that is research on Quarantine Network. Previous effort is an automatic virus reporting capability built in anti virus program installed.
